परिचय
Satyanashi (Argemone mexicana) is the Mexican prickly poppy, a thorny yellow-flowered weed that arrived in India centuries ago and now grows on waste ground everywhere. Its name means 'destroyer of truth'.
It has a genuine classical role in skin disease and as a purgative, but it is best known in India as an adulterant: argemone seed mixed into mustard oil has caused mass epidemic poisoning.
