परिचय
Jivanti (Leptadenia reticulata) takes its name from jiva, life. Charaka places it at the head of the Jivaniya group — the drugs that sustain and prolong life — and among the Vayasthapana, those that hold off ageing.
It is a sweet, cooling, gently nourishing drug used in debility, in the eyes, and as a milk-promoting agent after childbirth.

Family Apocynaceae (Asclepiadoideae). The whole plant, root and leaf are officinal. Rasa: Madhura. Guna: Laghu, Snigdha. Virya: Sheeta. Vipaka: Madhura. Doshaghnata: pacifies all three doshas, chiefly Vata and Pitta.
